By creating a strong foundation for the client this can reduce the cytokines interactions and inflammatory triggers in the body and increases life resilience, increased interest and purposeful living. Cytokines to be direct link to many illnesses and diseases related to chronic stress. Cytokines proteins and peptides are used in the body extensively in cellular communication. These chemical signals are particularly important in both innate and adaptive immune responses. Studies are showing a direct correlation to patient’s emotional states and illness and disease.

Multiple Studies below show how stress has a great impact on our health:

• 70-80% of all visits to the doctor are for stress-related and stress-induced illnesses & Stress contributes to 50% of all illness in the United States. (1)
• Impaired by chronic long term stress one study showed over a period of 5 years showed Rumatoid arthristis (RA) patients who had a higher daily stress level at baseline had a poorer outcome and significantly more bony erosions after 5 years. Feigenbaum SL, Masi AT, Kaplan SB. Prognosis in rheumatoid arthritis: a longitudinal study of newly diagnosed younger adult patients. Am J Med 1979; 66: 377-84. (2)
• Due to their central role in the immune system, cytokines are involved in a variety of immunological, inflammatory and infectious diseases. (3)
• The cytokine response during chronic stress appears to play a key role in exacerbating the acute CNS infection and the development of subsequent autoimmune responses. (4)
• Depressed mood , difficulty in identifying feelings could be associated with increased levels of IL-4 which may result in chronic impairment of pro/anti-inflammatory cytokine balance with psychological and somatic consequences.
